Have you ever finished up a launch you were sure would kick butt and thought, “Why the heck did this bomb?” It’s such a bummer…not to mention it’s enough to make you ready to scrap everything and rewrite allll your copy.
Not so fast, my friend. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is spending time trying to perfect your copy without evaluating your messaging first. Why? Because the truth is that you can spin the prettiest sentences you’ve ever seen, but if your messaging isn’t hitting home, it will fall flat every. single. time.
So what’s the secret to getting clear on your messaging so it comes through in your copy? I’ve got it right here for you in this episode of Amplified AF. I’m breaking it all down to help you make sure your messaging comes through in your copy so it inspires your people to take action.
First time here? Well, hello friend! My name is Kate. I’m an industry-leading conversion copywriting expert who loves helping people like you stand out in the online space. It’s kind of my jam! So glad you’ve found us!
Quote of the Day: “You don’t have to be a great writer to get your stuff to convert. What gets people moving is great messaging.”
So let’s be really honest here…you can write the most fun and creative copy and it can still miss the mark with your people. I know it seems crazy, but it’s true. I’ve seen some terrible sales pages that convert like crazy and it’s because the messaging was on point.
It makes sense if you think about it this way: you can have the fastest and most powerful car, but if you forget to put gas in it, it won’t get you anywhere.
It’s the SAME with your copy.
The truth is, your people don’t really care all that much about how fun and creative your copy is.
What they care about is what they’re struggling with and how you can help them. They care about the transformation you have to offer and why it’s exactly what they need to get results.
So before you decide it’s time for a copy overhaul, take a step back and ask yourself a few questions, like…
- What am I actually saying to my people?
- Is what I’m saying what they really need to hear?
- Does what I’m offering meet their needs?
- My solution is what they need, but is it what they want?
We often get so close to what we’re saying that we don’t even realize it’s missing the mark. That’s why it’s good to take that step back and get a 30,000 foot view of it. It helps you make sure you’re tapping into what they need and getting across the message that you can help!.
Want a piece of advice? Don’t wait until you’re in the middle of a formal launch, to get clear, my friend. I encourage you to take some time now to really take a look at your copy. Ask yourself what your audience needs to make a decision about whether what you have to offer is right for them.
Because this is not just about getting them to buy, my friend. It’s about giving them the information they need to make the best decision for them. That’s how you serve them in the best way possible.
Get clear in your messaging because that’s where the magic happens. Nail that and the rest will fall into place.
